Council Honors Scouts Who Have Earned Religious Awards
On Sunday, May 16, 2010 the RISCC’s Protestant Committee on Scouting in partnership with the Girl and Boy Scouts honored 21 scouts who have earned religious awards in 2009-2010. For pictures go to “NEWS & EVENTS”.
Heroes of Faith Breakfast
The RISCC will honor seven individuals who have made a significant difference in Rhode Island through the faith community at its first Heroes of Faith Breakfast on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 7:45 AM at the Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Individual congregations/organizations can nominate their own Partner in Faith in each category by clicking “NEWS & EVENTS”.
The RISCC will honor the following: Interfaith award(s): Given to an individual(s) of any faith tradition who has worked to improve interfaith relationships and understanding in Rhode Island § Maxine Richman § Ron and Kati Machtley
Life achievement award:Given to an individual who throughout her/his life have continually and consistently served the community from a faith perspective § Rev. Joshua McClure § Henry Shelton
Community and faith service award:Given to an individual who represents some social service, educational or humanitarian group who has worked with the faith community to achieve shared goals § Elizabeth Burke Bryant
Faith leader of the year award:Given to an individual from the faith community (most likely, but not necessarily a clergy person) who has made significant impact on some pressing issue the past year § Rev. Israel Mercedes
