The Heroes of Faith Breakfast annually recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the importance of faith and the faith community in making Rhode Island a better place for all of us.

Awards are given in the following areas: Interfaith Award, Community and Faith Service Award, Life Achievement Award, Stewardship Award and Faith Leader of the Year Award. This year’s recipients are:

Interfaith Award: Marty Cooper 

Community and Faith Service Award: Linda Katz 

Life Achievement Award: Sister Mary Reilly and Rev. James Miller 

Stewardship Award: Frank Cook 

Faith Leader of the Year Award: Rev. Carl Balark 

In addition to these awards faith communities and other non-profits can honor recipients of their choice with a Partners in Faith Award.

Partners in Faith Program

Purpose

The Partners in Faith (PIF) Program gives nonprofit organizations (such as, Houses of Worship, Faith based non-profits organizations and other organizations who work with the faith community) the opportunity to honor ONE member (or one couple) who has made a significant contribution to the life of their community. The criteria for award are to be established by each community. For example: a local church may want to honor a young person who has exhibited unusual leadership or a non-profit organization may want to honor someone who has been active in faith based outreach.

The recipient will be honored in the following ways:

  • ·Their picture and a description of their activity will be included in the program book
  • ·They will receive an award at the breakfast
  • ·At a time to be mutually determined, members of the Governing Board of the Council will visit faith communities during a worship service and re-present the recipient with the award (only for those faith communities who choose this option).

Members of the faith community will be encouraged to purchase tickets to support the recipient at the breakfast. Attendees will be assigned tables so that members of faith communities will be assured that they are sitting with their own community.

Procedure

Each organization will complete and submit an application with the fee of $80. The fee includes the recipient’s ticket for the event, inclusion in the program book and the award. A digital picture of the recipient should be submitted with the application.

We anticipate awarding UP TO 40 Partners In Faith – applications and tickets will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

An application will be considered complete with the receipt of

  • ·a completed application,
  • ·digital picture
  • ·and $80 fee ($115 for a couple).

Your e-mail application should include:

1.The subject line of your e-mail should say “Heroes of Faith – Partners in Faith Application” Please note that in order for your Partner’s picture and bio to be included in the program ALL information and payment must be submitted NO LATER than OCTOBER 1, 2012.
2.Name of recipient(s) as you would like it to appear on the Award
3.Name of the community of faith or non-profit sponsoring the Award
4.Name of contact person with their e-mail and daytime phone number
5.Name of escort – please chose a person from your organization who can accompany your recipient(s) when they come forward for their award
6.A statement that explains why this person(s) is receiving the Award and a little about the person – 120 words maximum
7.A digital photo of the person(s) receiving the Award
